Extended Description and Notes
On January 24, 1897 The Commercial Tribune of Cincinnati printed a lengthy article on fine homes in Lexington, Kentucky. The article was reprinted without illustrations in three issues of The Morning Herald of Lexington, January 25-27, 1897. The six houses illustrated by engravings in the original article are rendered here in serigraphy, original silk-screen color prints, by Grace Perreiah. The quotations beneath the serigraphs have been modified. The headlines and first paragraph of the article provide an introduction. The accompanying monograph by architectural historian Walter E. Langsam provides longer selections from the newspaper article and an interpretive text. Designed and printed by hand in 1982 by the Polyglot Press in Lexington, Kentucky.
