About This Item

Edinburgh: Plaid Stationery of Scotland Ltd , 1945. Slight creasing and a couple of small tears to edges of unclipped (original price 8/6) dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, a previous (original?) owner's name and date (Christmas 1950) on f/ep, a tear to the bottom inch or so of the pages next to spine, binding just starting to split at pp24-25, but no damage to the text or illustrations. Otherwise a not too bad, clean copy of this slim hard-cover book, a story for children. The story involves a group of children who save Edinburgh from the Horny Gollochs. One of the last books to be illustrated by the famous Scottish illustrator Jessie M King. The " merchant of Edinbugh" of the tile was a Noel G Fyfe, who produced a booklet "The Capital of Scotland" in the early 1940s. 54pp, 4 double-page colour illustrations, b&w illustration throughout.. Hard Cover. Good/Good. Illus. by King, Jessie M. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
