A first edition copy. Edward Malins traces the direct influence of contemporary writer and artist on the development of romantic English landscape gardening, starting with Paradise Lost. With twenty plates. Collated, complete. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. From the library of Doctor Malcolm Higgs, an important architectural historian who worked as an assistant architect to Stirling & Gowan, working on their particularly renowned Leicester University Engineering Laboratory. During his long career he taught at the University of Edinburgh School of Architecture, Canterbury School of Architecture, and University of Nottingham. Later in his life he was the Vice-President and Honorary Librarian of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and contributed and edited the "Journal of Architecture". In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some fading to the spine and boards. Library stamp to the front free endpaper and editions page. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. In the original unclipped dust wrapper which is very smart with light chipping to the head of the spine. Near Fine
