Chicago: Herbert S. Stone & Company, 1896. This was the second novel (the first in English by the prominent "decadent" modernist author Gabrielle D'Annunzio (1863-1938). This is a Near Fine copy of the First American Edition, translated from the original Italian by Myrta Leonora Jones. Dark green cloth binding, ruled and titled in gilt on front & rear covers and the spine. With a heraldic device in gilt on both covers. Clean text; xii, 122 pages, with a one-page ad in the rear; top-edge is gilt, others rough-cut. Introduction by the translator. There is just the tiniest bit of rub at the margins, and two small scuffs on the cover; else a Fine copy. Really a lovely little book. . First American Edition.. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
