A solid copy to boot of the 1940 1st edition of this impressive "study of the life and work of Eric Mendelsohn, one of the greatest pioneers and exponents of the new architecture in Europe". Solid and VG+, with very light offsetting at the front panel's top-edge and mild offsetting along and near the inner hinges. And in a bright, price-clipped, VG dustjacket, with 1 1/2" of loss to the spine crown, light chipping at the tips and a bit of light creasing and several small closed tears along the panel edges. Still though, very presentable. Quarto, 54 halftone plates with 80 illustrations; 103 illustrations-in-the-text from drawings by the architect. With complete list of buildings and projects, exhibitions, bibliography. Eric Mendelsohn (1887-1953), a towering figure in German architecture, "known for his Expressionist style in the 1920s, as well as for being a pioneer of the Art Deco and Streamline Moderne movements"
