About This Item

Bilingue (grec-français). Broché, 27 cm, 248 p., ill., 1080 gr. Out of print, one final copy. // A big trip to Europe and Asia, focusing on Greece in 1917 and Indochina in 1925, suggests this album through the photographic eye of Ernest Hébrard, one of the most important protagonists of architecture and urban research of the 20th century .After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and the Villa Medicis in Rome, the First World War will bring him to the Army of the East in Thessaloniki. The great fire of 1917, which destroyed the biggest part of the city, is the cause that will keep him there for a few years to work. Then, to Indochina in 1923 where he designed several important buildings of the so-called colonial architecture, matching perfectly the quality to adapt to the local architecture of these countries in Southeast Asia. Ch. Yakoumes discovered recently the entire photographic archive of Ernest Hébrard, after almost 70 years. This album presents these great pictures from Italy, Dalmatia, Greece, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Burmese, India, and China.
