About This Item
Leipzig & Berlin: Georg Heinrich Meyer, 1903. Cloth. Good. 9" by 6". Not stated. A respectable copy of this study of the daily lives of the Inuit peoples by famed Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen. A respectable copy of this study of the daily lives of the Inuit peoples by famed Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen. Covering topics from basic kayaking to theology, it is easy to understand how Nansen came to be regard as a Norwegian national treasure and a great amongst the pantheon of arctic explorers. This lovely edition is cloth-bound with marbled edges, a decorative front board, and Ert-style endpapers. The book is typset in German, with broad margins and a charming gothic font, and is illustrated throughout with a number of plates. In decent external condition. Cloth-bound with decorative front board. Front and back boards are heavily rubbed along joints, but joints are firm. Further rubbing to edges and back board, and some shelfwear to head and tail of spine. Internally, bindings tender but firm. Internally suffering from marginal browning, but pages remarkably bright and clean otherwise. One internal page with pencil markings, one with spot, and one with crease. Identical ink inscriptions to front pastedown and frontispiece. Good
