Description

London: Archibald Constable & Co LTD, 1906. Vellum. Good. 6.5" by 4". None. A nicely bound copy of George Meredith's influential essay on comedy. An essay on comedy by George Meredith. The essay shows the author keen understanding of comedy, as is still used as a reference work on the history of comic theory. The essay was originally published in 'The New Quarterly Magazine' in April 1877. Meredith was a Victorian poet and novelist, who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature seven times. His other works include 'Diana of the Crossways', 'The Poor Man and the Lady', and 'The Ordeal of Richard Feverel'. In a quarter vellum binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. A little rubbing to the boards and extremities. Discolouration to the rear board. A very little loss to the head of the spine. Internally, binding is a little strained in places. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot. Good
