London: Reeves and Turner, 1877. Hardcover. Very Good. 3 volumes. Edited by William Carew Hazlitt. Bound in 3/4 smooth calf over marbled boards. Double leather spine labels with decorated in gilt compartments. Bands on volume 3 rubbed, with the volume label chipped. Small bite out of volume 1 label. Edges of boards rubbed. Top edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Volume 1 with frontis engraving of Montaigne, volumes 2 and 3 with frontis illustrations, tissue guarded. Volumes clean throughout but with a faint odour of moth balls when flipping through the text.
