In a signed binding by Ramage London. A collection of the essays of Ralph Waldo Emerson, containing both the first and second series of his essays. The essays include 'History', 'Self-Reliance', 'Friendship', 'Heroism', 'Character', 'Nominalist and Realist', and more, with a total of twenty essays. Emerson was an American essayist and philosopher, who led the transcendentalist movement in the mid nineteenth century. He was considered to be a champion of individualism, and a critic of the pressures of society. Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Ursuale Mariae Adelae Devereux'. In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards, a signed binding by Ramage. Externally, generally smart. Small cracks to the head and tail of the front joint. A little rubbing to the spine. Minor fading to the spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good
