All edges gilt, (gilding a little faded in places), green silk ribbon bookmark. Small area of surface loss to lower board (see photo). Corner tips lightly rubbed. Guy Toussaint Julien Carron (1760-1821) born in Rennes. Educator, writer and philanthropist who founded a number of social and educational institutions: schools, libraries and pharmacies while in exile in England. Deported to Jersey (1792-1796), on the Bourbon Restoration in 1814, Carron returned to France and became head of the Institut de Marie - Thérèse.
