An incredibly rare first edition of Pasteur's famous treaty on the ills of beer contamination and germ theory!
Louis Pasteur was one of the most famous 19th-century French scientists known for his discoveries of vaccinations, pasteurizations, and fermentation. Pasteur's research and studies proved the existence of micro-organisms and how they are responsible for the sourness that comes with spoiled milk, wine, and beer. It was in the findings that Pasteur decided to dedicate more efforts to the study of alcoholic beverages.
His book 'Etude Sur la Biere', which first appeared in 1876, was the culmination of Pasteur's findings of the diseases found in beer, techniques for pasteurization, and other aspects of beverage contamination.
According to 'Heirs of Hippocrates',"In Pasteur's important study of fermentation, he discovered that contamination of beer was caused by microorganisms found in the air and not spontaneously generated as he had previously believed. He made possible the scientific processing of beer, wine, milk, and other perishable products."

Herodian's 'History of Rome' is a collection of eight books covering the period of the death of Marcus Aurelius to the beginning of Gordian III's reign. Herodian's account is first-person narrative of one of the most politically unsettled times of the Roman Empire. Important names covered in Herodian's 'History' include Commodus, Julianus, Severus, and Pertinax, as well as the history of Zosimus.

This 1549 Greek is incredibly rare and desirable. It features both the Latin and Greek translations by Poliziano. According to the USTC, there are only three examples in any institutional holding in American institutions! Very rare!
