Collins, Capt. Greenville: Netherlands, Untitled chart of Holland, Flanders and Eastern England. Ca 1753. Copper engraved chart. Size approx 600mm x 480mm. Good margins, hand coloured, good impression on heavy paper. Coast line of Flanders at Calles [Calais] to Der Scheling [Terschelling]of the West Frisian Islands and then Eastern England Margate in Kent to Burnham Flats in Norfolk. Much detail is given of the Thames estuary and Rotterdam soundings. Depth soundings and rhumb lines indicated. A compass rose is set at the centre of the Chart. Title cartouche "To the Honourable Sir john Ashby Kt. Admiral of the Blew/ This is most humbly dedicated and presented by Capt G Collins". Some age soiling to edges, one small tear, without loss and repaired to centre fold area. A scarce, attractive sea chart in good, bright condition suitable for display.

1849. HART, Joseph C. THE ROMANCE OF YACHTING: VOYAGE THE FIRST. Two volumes in one with original wrappers bound in. New York: Harper and Brothers, 1848 (title page) issued in two parts in wrappers dated 1849, printed price 37 1/2 cents. 332 pp. + 28 pp. publisher's advertisements, some unopened. 8vo. Included notes on navigation, nautical vocabulary, and oddly, the Shakespeare authorship controversy. This wrapper edition likely constitutes a second issue. Bound in half blue gilt-ruled morocco with raised bands, spine ornaments, blue marbled paper covered boards. Overall a lovely copy. OCLC locates only one copy issued in wrappers; quite scarce thus.

London : John Stockdale, 1798 Vol II only of this scarce 2 volume work - one of two english translations of La Perouse's voyage produced in 1798. With frontispiece by Stothard and 24 further plates/charts. (The plate list is presumably in Vol I so I can not confirm that the plates are present as listed. The work had 51 plates/maps over the 2 volumes). Detailed account of the voyage with Tables showing the course of La Boussole and L'Astrolabe. Separate section at the rear 'Substance of the Travels over the Continent, with the dispatches of La Perouse, in the Years 1787 and 1788 by M de Lesseps'. Page listing of Stockdale's poetry works at the rear. In contemporary full leather binding which is badly damaged. The boards with gilt edging and cross hatched blind tooling are complete and rescuable but the spine is missing. Page edges marbled.
