New London, CT: Timothy Green, 1786. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. First Edition. Professionally rebound. Full brown leather with red slip and gilt lettering on spine. Five raised bands. xviii, 359pp. Covers show a few negl Pages age-toned. Only a few pages contain writing. A well preserved first edition of a fascinating work. This book was written to refute the doctrine of universal salvation (which claims that Jesus will save all humanity), a doctrine that was beginning to be accepted by certain parts of the churches. This particular copy was owned the Universalist Historical Society (whose library stamp is inside the back cover. Full refund if not satisfied.
