Issued in 'The Schools of Philosophy' series. ix+410+(2, pub.notices), top edge gilt; outer sides of endpapers tanned, ex-New College Oxford library with their heraldic plate and cancelled stamp to front pastedown , lib.number and small stamp on facing endpaper, plate also has 'bequeathed by James Surtees Phillpotts, Fellow 1858-1869' at bottom, small round impressed stamp 'Presentation Copy' bottom t.p. otherise internally clean, tight & unmarked; covers bright , hint of rubbing to spine ends, also to front joint, two small patches of pigment loss to back. A sound copy of this historical survey of educational thought.
