Edited from his lecture notes, the book is a major contribution to his philosophy of language, as well as to his examination of the foundation in experience of linguistic acts. The English translation appeared the same year in both US and UK editions, without established priority. Octavo. Original purple cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. Jacket a little toned with very light rubbing at extremities, unclipped; a fine copy in near-fine jacket.
