R. Hughes. In four volumes. London: Privately Printed for Members of The Society of Bibliophiles, 1898: Volume I: xii, 402 pages, list of illustrations; Volume II: 376 pages, illustrations; Volume III: 404 pages, list of illustrations; Volume IV: 318 pages, list of illustrations. This is a limited edition, printed on Venetian deckel edge paper is limited to 1000 copies, this being copy number 609. Very good condition gray cloth boards with elaborate front cover gilt illustration and gilt spine lettering and illustration. Top paper edges are also gilt. Title pages lettered in black and red. On the front cover panel of Volume IV there are traces of red to the side and bottom edges. Assume that the set was on a bookshelf situated next to a book with a red dust jacket which was transferred in part to the last volume. " The Facetious Nights consists of an exquisite and delightful collection of humorous witty and mirthful conversations fables and enigmas including singing, music, and dancing. during the thirteen nights of the carnival at Venice as related by ten charming and accomplished damsels and several nobles, men of learning, illustrious and honorable gentlemen of not at the entertainments of merriment and pleasure given by the Princess Lucretia at her beautiful palace at Murano." - from the Preliminary Page.
