About This Item
Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1909. First Edition. Half Buckram. Very good. 4to (33cm). A plain pale reddish buckram to spine over plain boards. No. 56 of 350 copies, printed on handmade paper and set in Cambridge type. Vol I: Books I to III. pp. 544, including to rear the two pages of Errata. Vol II: Books IV to VI, and the fragment of Book VII. pp. 494. Rough trimmed leading and lower page edges. The boards, more so to Vol I, with some rubs, minor marks and wear to tips. Small tear to cloth at head of spine adjacent front board. Tips of Vol II worn, a 4" or 11cm tear along head of spine to front board. Boards overall well kept. Internally, pages in both volumes clean and unmarked, bindings firm. Some copies of this edition were issued in a vellum binding with gilt top edge. These copies are of the plain variant bindings.
