Chicago: Academy, 1981. First Edition. Large 8vo, pp. ix, 611. Notes and select bibliography, index. Introduction by Anita Miller. Paper wraps. Profusely illustrated. Edges little soiled, cover llissttle soiled, scuffed and creased, o/w VG. The story of the Woman's Building at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. The Board of Lady Managers built not only the Woman's Building, but the Children's Building, a day care center, and a dormitory where shareholding visitors to the fair could stay for 40 cents a night. There were political struggles among the Managers and others; Weimann covers the turbulence as well as the accomplishments.
