A smartly bound copy of this children's work on the wildlife in the British countryside, by Richard and Cherry Kearton, illustrated throughout. In a signed binding by Bicker's & Son. This work was written to offer an insight for children into the fairy-tale like world of the living things that inhabit the countryside, discussing the habits, instincts, and characters of wild animals. Some of the topics looked at include birds, chicks, rabbits, hedgehogs, lizards, beetles, plants, and more. Profusely illustrated throughout with photographs by Cherry Kearton. Written and illustrated by Richard and Cherry Kearton. The Keartons were brother who were both naturalists, as well as being some of the world's earliest wildlife photographers, developing innovative methods to photograph animals in the wild. Presentation inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper, 'Class VI French, J. M. Dennis from HMWorlsey, Evelyns Mids 1923'. In a signed half calf binding with cloth to the boards.
