Description

New York, New York, U.S.A.: Viking Press/Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1981. First Thus . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Nielsen, Kay. Stunning illustrations by Kay Nielsen, which were originally produced to complement Andersen's tales in 1924, are reproduced from that limited edition in this new collection (First, Thus) from Viking in conjunction with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which owns that original edition. Eleven stories are illustrated with full-page, full-color plates, along with smaller sepia-toned drawings throughout the 155 pages. Oversized hardcover book has blue textured cloth over boards with an embossed crown design all over & gilt lettering to spine. Condition of both book & DJ is Fine: virtually flawless! Only point that keeps it from being like Brand New is an old gift inscription in pen to half-title page. Else, completely clean, binding straight & strong, pages white, colors bright, plates flawless. The unclipped DJ is just as lovely, beautifully protected in mylar cover to keep it that way for years of reading pleasure. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
