About This Item
[London]: Macmillan, [2001]. First edition. A fine copy in fine dust jacket. (26947). Octavo, boards. Signed by Hamilton on the title page. "This hefty novel of interstellar war and alien contact in the 25th century, a sort of Starship Troopers as if written by Charles Dickens, ranks as one of Hamilton's best." "... Hamilton nicely develops character while he also does some fine world building that's as good as it gets in space opera short of Lois McMaster Bujold." - Publisher's Weekly review, Jan. 28, 2002.
Synopsis
Fallen Dragon is a science fiction novel by Peter F. Hamilton. It was first published in 2001 by Macmillan. The story is mainly about the life of Lawrence Newton from the planet Amethi, who pursues his dream of becoming a starship captain. Another storyline, which merges with the first, is that of the resistance movement on the planet Thallspring, which uses advanced alien technology against Terran exploitation. The future societies in the book are varied, and the book contrasts them.
