About the author

The founding coeditors of the 0pen access journal Transformative Works and Cultures (journal.transformativeworks.org), Karen Hellekson and Kristina Busse also coedited the anthology Fan Fiction and Fan Communities in the Age of the Internet. A scholar of science fiction, Karen Hellekson has written The Science Fiction of Cordwainer Smith and The Alternate History: Refiguring Historical Time, as well as editing Practicing Science Fiction: Critical Essays on Writing, Reading and Teaching the Genre. She resides in Jay, Maine. The author of many scholarly and popular essays and coeditor of Sherlock and Transmedia Fandom: Essays on the BBC Series, Kristina Busse lives in Mobile, Alabama.
