Chicago, IL: Ziff - Davis Publishing, 1939. 98 pp., pictorial wraps; Magazine has three tears to spine w/ wear to ends & edges; covers have short tears & creases to edges w/ some light creasing & rubbing & some minor soil overall; 1/4" x 1/2" chip to fore edge of front cover; 3/8" x 1/2" chip to bottom edge of back cover; front cover is becoming detached at the bottom 1 1/2"; small creases & curling to some page corners; pages are browning w/ a couple of pages having creases & one page w/ a 1 1/2" tear to fore edge / This is the first issue of Fantastic Adventures with the famous "Man from Mars" illustration by Frank R. Paul, renowned illustrator of the pulp era. Inside is a line-drawing version of the picture, with each part of the being's anatomy and attire explained. This was followed by "The Man from Venus" in a similar treatment in the second issue. Featured stories are "The Invisible Robinhood" by Eando Binder and "Revolt of the Robots" by Arthur Tofte. /.
