The author, nicknamed "pump" was a flamboyant newpaper-man in Madison, WI. The authors anti-Republican views at the time of the Civil War are expressed.

First edition. Illustrated perfect-bound wraps as issued, with French fold flaps; very minor rubbing to exterior wraps, in near fine condition. Signed by Le Guin on the title page of King Dog, signed by Tess Gallagher on title page of Dostoevsky.
