About This Item
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1943. Stated First Edition 4to size tan clothbound hardcover; 409 toned pages with black and white illustrations by Eleanor Beckham, including some full page illustrations. The artist's style is reminiscent of a coloring book. There is also a section illustrated with color swatches. Contents include: Pictures Fashion's Hall of Fame Characteristic Silhouette Color Accessories Fabrics Cosmetics and Coiffures Home Furnishings, more. Edgewear, wrinkles on covers, probably a publisher's defect; scratched top front corner. Toned pages and we noted a wrinkle on one page that is also likely a production defect. (This is a wartime book and the quality of the production and materials was not to the same standard as it had been 10 years before.) There is a little play in the front hinge - there is no separation; it is just not as firm as the back hinge. There is an inscription on fep. The swatched pages have some tanned areas and we noticed some dye transfer to the page from several of the swatches. There are some lightly sunned bands on the covers; bumped head and heel of spine; dusty top. We have another book by the author listed separately. Thanks for shopping with us! 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and lifelong learning.. First. Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Beckham, Eleanor. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
