In February 1942, the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen breached the English Channel. They impudently steamed through the Straits of Dover in broad daylight, defying all efforts to stop them. Drawing on firsthand accounts by survivors of the action, both British and German, the author reveals the story of the break-out, and the running battle that followed. Hard cover 235pp. Binding is tight, pages clean. Black and white photographs and illustrations. Spine shows cocking. Boards show some edge wear. Red cloth with black on spine-title, author, publisher in gold gilt. Corners have slight bending. DJ has age toning and edge wear on top and bottom. DJ has three-eighths inch closed end tear on back.
