A 1877 hardcover without dustwrapper (if issued) in aged somewhat rubbed and lightly soiled decorative green cloth covered boards with bright gilt blocked lettering very bumped/rubbed to the corners, the backstrip with gilt blocked lettering is very bumped/rubbed to the ends, previous owner's plate removed from the inner pastedown and the map is sadly missing from front board pocket, very clean slightly tanned unmarked pages with webbing showing between pages 145 and 146, tanned to the text-block edges. A tight useful original copy. Carefully packaged and posted within 48 hours from our wee bookshop in Scotland. .

"With Map" but map absent from its pocket at the front in this copy. Prize copy from Grenville College, Ballarat, with attractive decorated label with date Xmas, 1882 on verso of front board and the emblem of the College blocked in gilt on rear board. A dampstain to rear cloth at the lower external hinge; gilt lettering of emblem on rear board unevenly faded though still quite legible; some flecking to front cloth and spine; otherwise a very good copy but as stated lacking the map.
