Angus & Robertson, Sydney, 1941. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Poor. Illustrator: Photographic. Acknowledgements. The text is illustrated with 14 pages of black-and-white photographs, and a black-and-white photographic frontispiece of Flying-Officer E. J. (Cobber) Kain, D.F.C. Grey coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with yellow and black coloured titles to the front panel and yellow coloured titles to the back strip. A history of the nos 1 and 73 fighter squadrons Royal Air Force who fought in the Battle for France in 1939-30. There are many references to the squadron's most famous son - Flying-Officer E. J. (Cobber) Kain, D.F.C. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with a slight cock of the spine. Rubbing of the book edges and panels. A little fading to the back strip. Age toning and find foxing of the text block edges and lighter age toning and foxing of the pages. Offset tanning and foxing of the end pages and the first few and last few pages of the book are more heavily foxed than the pages further in. Gift inscription to the half title page. The dustwrapper is not in great shape  please see photograph. Both fold over panels are missing. There are tears and pieces missing from the dustwrapper edges and there is creasing of the edges. Numerous tears are also present, ranging in size from 0.25" to 1.5"stop rubbing and handling marks to the panels. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. XII, 244 pages,.
