About the author

In his first non-fiction book, Michael Vaal recounts the dramatic story of his family's enduring quest for survival in World War II Belgium. Currently residing in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife, Cynthia, Michael retired from a successful financial consulting business in Manchester, New Hampshire--the state that the Vaal family called home post-World War II, and the community in which Michael and Cynthia raised their own three children. Future plans include a second book about the valiant efforts of the members of Belgium and Holland's underground "White Brigade" of World War II.
