About This Item
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: J.B. Lippincott Company, 1929. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo 7" - 7. Those of you who use McBride's Guide to Identifying and Collecting First Editions know that it is a bit skimpy regarding pre-1922, and this is its antidote. Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound hardcover, a bit sunned from dark green to brown on spine, clean but for fine bookplate inside front flap, lightly foxed endpapers, minimal rubbing to extremities. 62 pp. of bio-bibliographical information for both British and American publishers. Critical note at the outset regarding the coming to consensus among members of the general public of the term "edition" as opposed to "issue" or "impression." From the personal library of Mr. Robert Allen, bookseller and appraiser and also editor of a number of volumes of the The Eighteenth Century: a current bibliography in a project headed at the University of Southern California. From his personal library as conveyed to me by his widow, Ms Priscilla (Brownie) Allen.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
