Oshawa: Royal Canadian Legion, 1979. 160 pp, oblong (7 5/8" H x 9 1/4" D). Inscribed on front free endpaper: "To Jim / Best Regards / June Brown". Many b&w photographs. "(W)ritten with the purpose of acquainting new members and the general public with the part the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, plays in the community of Oshawa. First and foremost was the assistance to veterans returning from the wars and to widows and children of veterans. Several years after the second World War, they became involved with community work. Here the various activities have taken the Branch into many fields of welfare, sports, recreational sponsorships, and educational activities far beyond anything which had been attempted by any other organization in the city. It took countless hours of voluntary work by faithful members of the Branch and the Ladies' Auxiliary over the past 50 years to achieve the status they enjoy today." Dust jacket has minor edge wear, one small edge tear archivally taped, two tiny dents on front hinge, a few tiny foxing marks on inside surface.. Inscribed By Author. First Edition. Hard Cover.
