1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Oh to be a Nordic! Anglo-Saxon Society which published material related to Norsemen and their exploits, here Vatican manuscripts of America in Latin/English, wonderful coloration of the texts, f/o name on fep and was both a politician in Saratoga NY around 1912 and a member of the International Anglo-Saxon Society--their rarely seen official certificate and gold embossed seal in front of book is presented to him; highly attractive and colourful stylised lettering and design. 1st edn with brown, silver and green belt and chain design with Viking ship in corner and title Pre Columbian Historical Treasures, spine is clear of title. Fep has several f/o names. Loosely inserted is creased letter (copy?) and translation from the Pope's Secretary of State (Pius X), Cardinal Merry Del Val, to American historian and travel author James W. Buhl of St. Louis granting him Vatican permission to photograph certain Vatican material with regard to the Church's interest in Greenland (probably never activated), dated 1906, coat of arms on the upper left of the letter, also tape stains which appear in several places in the book, 176pps. Buhl may have edited this book as he did on a couple other volumes in the Norrcena series of 13. Rear pastedown shows taped individual examples of ten famous bindings with text. Interesting copy during this era of high Aryan intensity of feeling. 4to.

London: T. Meighan, 1743. Hardcover. Good +. Attributed to John Gother. Vol. 3 only (of 3 volumes): 534 p.; 15 cm. Signatures: A-Y12 Z4(-Z4) 12mo. Contemporary calf with gilt-ruled borders on both boards. Old unskilled leather spine replacement. Inscribed on title page "Rowland Eyre" and in another hand "Hassop Chapel"; back free endpaper has "Prayers for our Country" written on both sides, in a hand matching the Rowland Eyre signature. Hassop Chapel was built in 1806 and used until 1838. There have been a number of men named Rowland Eyre who were descendants of the more well-known Rowland Eyre who erected the new Hassop Hall in the 17th century, but determining which of them was the owner of this book is not possible. John Gother, to whom this volume of prayers is attributed, was a 17th-century English convert to Catholicism, and the Eyre family were staunch English Catholics who probably knew Gother, as he served as chaplain at nearby Warkworth for a time.…
