They were discussing about the warfare, as soldiers and mariners were fond to do, and someone spoke: "Who, of all the workers in the Crimea, will be longest remembered?" Every visitor was suggested to comment on this matter, and all of them scribbled a name on a sheet of paper. There were a number of sheets, but when they were about to be checked there was just one name, for all of them had scribbled the name of Florence Nightingale. All British boys and girls are familiar with the wonderful tale of the life of Miss Nightingale. Truly, hers is probably the much-admired name in England from the time of the death of the noble Queen Victoria. It will be an immense gratification to the writer to narrate this tale to the boys and girls in England, and it must commence, as every good tales do, from the start. </br></br>Laura Elizabeth Howe Richards was a US author. She drafted over 90 narratives such as life accounts, verses, and stories for young people.
