About This Item

London: Hutchinson, 1992-2015. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Fine. 9.5" by 6". None. A fine collection of three first edition novels by Sebastian Faulks. All novels are first editions, with complete numberlines. Being 'A Fools Alphabet', 'Where my Heart Used to Beat', 'On Green Dolphin Street'. 'On Green Dolphin Street' narrates the troubles, fears, dilemmas, problems and happiness of its characters. Set in America in 1959, this novel follows Mary van der Linden and her husband Charlie who works at the British embassy in Washington, when the world is filled with parties, jazz and family happiness. The events of the novel are set against the backdrop of the presidential battle between Kennedy and Nixon, and thus the Cold War. 'Where my Heart Used to Beat' is a moving tale of love, memory and war. It follows Robert Hendricks, an English doctor who has seen the best and worst the twentieth century had to offer. 'A Fool's Alphabet' follows the life of a photographer, alphabetically arranged in episodes based on locations he visited. A fine set of novels by this popular twentieth century novelist, best known for his novels 'Birdsong' and 'Charlotte Gray'. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With unclipped dustwrappers. Externally, all volumes are in excellent condition with minor shelf-wear. Dustwrapper are also in a lovely condition. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper of 'A Fool's Alphabet', 'U E B 1992'. Small mark to the rear pastedown of 'A Fool's Alphabet'. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Fine
