Brewster writes "for the information of ordinary readers, and for the improvement of practical Christians" (foreword). A vanishing fore-edge painting of a naval scene at Plymouth Sound: a small port with boats in the background and people in the foreground. PAGINATION [2],x,570,[4] pp. BINDING Dark brown mottled morocco, double paneled in gilt. Spine with five gilt-lined recessed bands and the words "Brewster's Lectures Upon Our Lord's Sermon on the Mount" lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Brown endpapers. CONDITION Joints rubbed and scuffed but holding firm; Lightly rubbed to board edges; Light foxing to first and last leaf; W.N. Petleton binder's sticker and Weston library armorial bookplate to front pastedown, with off-setting to front endpapers; clean, bright and tight internally with good margins.
