About the author

Kristin Clark Taylor was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She is a former journalist and a founding member of "USA Today"'s original creation and launch team, where she worked on the newspaper's editorial board. Also a former White House adviser, Ms. Taylor worked for then-Vice President George H. W. Bush as a writer and deputy press secretary. After he became president, she accepted the post of director of White House media relations, making her the first woman of color to serve in this capacity. As a corporate executive, Ms. Taylor has managed public relations for two Fortune 500 companies. She is now an author, lecturer, and communications consultant. Ms. Taylor lives with her family in the Washington, DC, area and is currently at work on her fifth book.
