About the author

Walter Horn is Professor of Art History at the University of California, Berkeley, and is the co-author of The Plan of St. Gall (California, 1979). Jenny White Marshall completed her doctoral studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, on the monasteries of the offshore islands of Ireland. Grellan D. Rourke is an architect with the National Monument Service of the Irish Board of Works and is in charge of the conservation of the monastic remains of Skellig Michael.
