There is a wide piece of binding tape attached to the inside cover, front and back, which looks like it used to hold something. No dj. HC is soiled and worn alongs edges and corners. Edges are bumples. Paper on binding is split inside back cover. Interesting and rare book begins with a history of sanitation in battle from the 13th century and a letter from the Surgeon General's Office September 7, 1862 to the Secretary of War. Several pages have tears along the top edge and some pages have tiny creased corners. Contains PLATE MAPS.
