A first edition historical novel by the popular British writer, Michael Sadleir, with the original dust wrapper. The first edition. In the publisher's original, full cloth binding with the original unclipped dust wrapper. With a colour frontispiece, two pages of plates and two maps. Collated complete. 'Forlorn Sunset' is a historical novel set in Victorian London, exploring the underworld of Vice that exists in the city. Michael Sadleir was a British novelist and publisher, whose work includes titles such as, 'Fanny by Gaslight', and 'Things Past'. The half title page is present. In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smrt with little shelf wear to the edges. Fading to the spine and front board. The original unclipped dust wrapper is in very smart condition. Light shelf wear to the edges. Spine is darkened. Handling marks to the rear panel and to the inside of the dust wrapper. Mark to the lower rear panel. Internally, firmly bound. Page lightly age-toned but otherwise very bright and clean with just the odd spot. Near Fine
