Description

Vienna: Johann Thomas Edlen, 1792. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good+. W. Engelman. 12mo. Pp. [x], 596. German language. Engraved title vignette. Illustrated with engravings in a section of ten folded leaves. Index. Bound in unlabeled paper-covered boards. Edges sprinkled red. FFEP and title page owner signed in ink J. N. Weize (?). A few pages lightly foxed, text block otherwise crisp and bright. Covers rubbed, corners bumped, edges chipped. Head of spine worn. A small section has been clipped from the right side of Plate IX. Halle (1727 - 1810) was a Prussian professor of history who also wrote on toxicology, crafts and the sciences. His works on "Magic" described experiments to produce amazing phenomena with optics, magnetism, electricity, chemistry, etc. Twelve volumes were produced 1788 - 1802.

All books are packed and shipped within 24 hours of receipt of order. Every book is professionally packaged in a heavy cardboard box and shipped via US Postal Service, fully insured. Shipping rates are $3.50 per book; an additional $1 for every book thereafter. Sets and oversized volumes might require additional postage – indication of such will be noted in the book description. Those orders ship at cost. Other shipping modes are available per arrangement. Institutions will be billed per requirements.
