Description:
Los Angeles: Echelon Book Publishers, Inc, 1967. 1st edition. Soft cover. Fine/No Jacket (as issued). Near Fine. Mass market paperback, 192pp, printed wrappers. An uncommonly fresh copy of this rare and bizarre exploitation paperback biography of Crowley, written by the enigmatic "James Harvey" in an exceedingly florid, quasi-literate style ("A Victorian sex-demon who believed in perversity as a dahlia trusts the sun"). Minor rubbing to covers, but tight and exceedingly well preserved for a work of this character (nicest copy I have ever seen).

Description:
New York: Mason Brothers, 1853. 192 pages. Illustrated with in-text wood engravings. Binding is embossed brown cloth, with gilt lettering on front cover. Hiram Mattison (1811-1868) was a prominent Methodist minister in New York, who, in addion to his opposition to fraudulent psychics, was an active proponent of temperance and abolition of slavery. In this book he debunks his era's fad of "spirit-rapping" and other practices by which mediums or spiritualists claim to communicate with the dead. As Mattison states in the preface, spirit-rapping "is the grand climax of soothsaying, astrology, witchcraft, phrenology, mesmerism, clairvoyance, Psychology, Fourierism, Millerism, Mormonism, and all other superstitions, delusions, and isms that have ever been, or probably ever will be." The book is in about very good condition: clean and tight, with some minor edgewear and shallow chipping of cloth at head and foot of spine. Pages are moderately foxed. Description:
A beautiful copy of this rare item, and in unusually excellent condition. This is the one-volume first UK edition published by New English Library in 1975 in London. All aspects are first rate (see photos ). The slipcase is often missing or damaged, but here it is excellent: just the vaguest sense of rubbing and slight sunning fade to spine, but totally tight, clean and intact. Book itself: pages are crisp, clean and bright: no markings, tanning or inscriptions, almost as new. DJ is complete and excellent with just the slightest edge wearing and possibly a little sunning on spine. Overall, this is a tremendous version of this rare copy, it has obviously been well looked after since day one. **this item may require an additional POSTAGE charge (at cost) depending on your location as it is a heavy item: if so, I will be clear to you before I send. Description:
Warrick's monumental study into 'direct writing, supernormal photography and other phenomena'. He largely focuses on the supposed gifts of Mrs Ada Emma Deane, much examined among psychical researchers. Warrick was convinced she was the real thing, despite the misgivings of Eric Dingwall and others. A fascinating and well known book, rare in this condition. Contains some 650 illustrations. The pages are tidy and clean with little above the normal age wear. There's a neat inscription on the FEP, from 1945. See all photos of the book. Boards are clean and tidy and spine is completely tight. Just a few minor marks or bumps, minor corner crumpling. All in all a lovely copy. Pp 399 many illustrations

Description:
binding is very clean- just a touch of edgewear/shelfwear. They used a two tone quarter green cloth over gray cloth and the green portion still is glossy. Internals very clean ( not even any pricing marks in pencil) though there is a paper clip indentation at the lower edge affecting the title, onwards for 20 pages. Unclipped wrapper has only some rubbing but I detect no tears, creases or chips. The paper is wonderful; it strikes me as feeling and looking like "linen" (not your business/office grade) but I am by no means an expert on paper. This US Stackpole Edition omits 8 plates which are in the UK Allen & Unwin volume. Well-preserved, excellent copy.
