About the author

British-born Adele Evans is a travel writer and broadcaster who fell in love with Italy at first sight at the age of 12. It was about 10 years later that she made her first trip to the 'little continent'. Ortygia was where she had her 'Eureka' moment, entranced by the sublime melting pot of the Grecian with the Norman, Baroque and beyond with each wave of invaders adding to the cultural--and culinary mix. The delight of savoring snow from Mt Etna with rose-water and jasmine--just as the Arabs did when they invented ice cream, the fusion of flavors set against groves of citrus and olive trees and the perfumed nero d'avola wine draw her back time and time again. For her, this alluring, brooding, mesmerising meeting place of Africa and Europe is like nowhere else on earth. When not globetrotting, Adele returns as often as possible to all places Italian and writes for many national newspapers (from the "Sunday Mirror" to the "Sunday Times"), magazines and websites. She is also the author of several guidebooks, especially on Italy and France.
