Contemporary sprinkled calf, spines with 4 raised bands, gilt lettered & numbered on red morocco labels (spines slightly rubbed, top and bottom of spines slightly damaged; corners slightly rubbed), red sprinkled edges. Pritzel, 5441; Soulsby 322. This so-called Edition Octavo is in fact the 9th edition and was the last to be published in the 18th century. Some scattered foxing and/or light browning, but a very acceptable copy of this fundamental botanical text in a rare edition. With the engraved bookplate of Sir Thomas Bar.
