Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Portrait frontis. Book Condition: VG+; light shelfwear to head, tail, and tips. No DJ as issued. Gray cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on spine and front board with bars and stars in gilt. 293 pp 8vo. Kirby-Smith was the last surviving general of either army from the Civil War. This book is an edited collection of his letters and correspondence published after his death in 1893. The purpose of the book was to set forth the life of Edmund Kirby-Smith more as a man than as a military leader. A clean very presentable copy.
