Cover is blue imitation leatherette, with gold lettering on front and spine; lettering is still very bright and unblemished. Blue endpapers. Pages are clean and tight. Tipped in is the printed presentation note from then GM Chairman Roger B. Smith. Lushly illustrated with hundreds of b/w and color photos. Sections are: Beginings of GM; Early Years of GM; Depression and Recovery; War Interrupts; Styling Sets the Pace; Marketing of Performance; Years of Transition; Challenge of the Future. Covers years 1772-1984. Also includes calendar year production figures from 1908-1982. One of the most famous buildings in Detroit was the General Motors World HQ Building, completed in 1923, by designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn. The building is still a historical landmark, but is now the property of the City of Detroit and used for city offices. GM has stayed in Detroit, moving World HQ to the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit.
