Frontispiece engraving, contents page illustrations (same repeated), fold-out maps of France, Italy, Maestricht, the Marquisate and Plan of Bergen op Zoom with the French Camp and Attacks (1747), Mt. Vesuvius, Breda, fold-out view of Genoa harbour, numerous other plates and in-text illustrations, 3 p. of coats of arms for English peers, music for A Hunting Song and a new Loyal Song. Full leather. From our As Is shelf. Corners and edges worn, boards very loose, large piece of leather missing on rear panel. Front free endpaper detached, Page 287 detached with chipped and creased edges, large chip out of p. 339 with loss of text.
Contents for each section. Index at rear. Articles on such topics as curing sea-sickness, why metals rust, smallpox inoculation, prodigious number of monks in France, etc. Regular features are lists of "ships taken," review of journals, poetry, births, deaths, preferments, and so on. Interesting.
