Numbered and signed on the colophon by Walter Bachinski and Janis Butler, the designers, illustrators, and printers of the book. This is the fourth publication of the press. The type is Bembo, printed on Arches Covers. The woodcuts were printed on Kuotani 5. The woodcuts and pochoir illustrations are by Walter Bachinski who also did the stenciling and printing of the illustrations. Janis Butler did the hand composition, text and color printing. Each section of the book has its own pochoir-illustrated title page and initial letters in pochoir. Each of these sections are paginated separately. There are many full-page woodcuts throughout which enliven the text as well. Crispin Elsted, of Barbarian Press, reviews Georgics in the Fine Press Book Association's Parenthesis 15 (Autumn 2008), stating "...what sets the Georgics apart from the earlier Shanty Bay books is not only the pochoirs, glorious as they are, but the eight magnificent woodcuts which define the labour which Virgil writes about even as the colour illustrations celebrate its spirit." (page 41). A fine copy.
Synopsis

"Georgic" means "to work the earth," and The Georgics combines practical wisdom on tending the land with exuberant eulogies to the rhythms of nature. From idyllic descriptions of hills strewn with wild berries in "vinespread autumn" to warnings of gods and natural disasters, it is at once a reflection on the cycles of life, death, and rebirth; an argument for the nobility of labor; and an impassioned reflection on the Roman empire.

Other services such as UPS, air mail through the US Post Office and FedEx are available upon request.
