1645. Engraved area 49cm x 39cm In nice gilt antique glass frame Size 75 x 64 cm. In very good condition. A stunning example. With beautiful hand colouring. A map of ancient Germany, based on Ortelius' map, which was in turn based on the writings of Ptolemy, Pliny, Strabo et al. The map is covered with forests and old place names. It is richly decorated with two cartouches featuring warriors and cherubs. The sea features a compass rose, sailing ship and a sea monster
