First German edition of The Canterville Ghost, Oscar Wilde's first published short story about a family who moves to a castle haunted by the ghost of a dead nobleman who killed his wife and was starved to death by his wife's brothers. Translated by Franz Blei. Preliminary leaves, 88 pages with frontispiece and plates by famed German painter and illustrator Heinrich Vogeler of the Worpspede Artist's Colony. On vellum paper. Signs of wear: Cover loose from binding. Some soiling on front and back cover; chipping on bottom edge of binding, no tears, no missing pages.
